Grete, an exceptional singer-songwriter, is set to make waves once again with her latest single, 'Different'. Known for her impressive journey from local fame in Lithuania to establishing herself in the UK, Grete's musical evolution continues to captivate audiences worldwide.
From a young age, Grete's talent was undeniable. Beginning her performance career in small ensembles and bands, she quickly rose to prominence, gracing the biggest stages in Lithuania. She participated in nationally broadcasted competitions, top-level musical theatre productions, international concerts, and contests. Notably, she reached the finals of ‘The Voice’ Lithuania in 2018. Despite gaining local fame and numerous opportunities for function gigs and session work, Grete sought to forge her own unique path in the music world. This determination led her to relocate to the UK and graduate from RNCM with a focus on pop music vocals in 2024.
Influenced by artists like Tove Lo, The Weeknd, and Yebba, Grete began writing songs that are vocally colourful and harmonically intricate, infused with strong messages and old R&B references. In the summer of 2024, she released her debut EP ‘Grey’, which showcased her talent for blending emotional depth with jazz-infused melodies.
Now, Grete is back with her new single ‘Different’, a bold statement that marks a smooth transition from the jazz-infused, emotional outpouring of her debut EP to a collection of pristine pop songs. ‘Different’ combines RnB textures with futuristic production, expanding her sound both in mood and sonics. Speckled with glitzy details and a nod to untraditional harmony, this single is Grete’s most quintessential offering to date.
‘Different’ draws influence from artists like Tove Lo, MARO, and The Weeknd, creating a soundscape filled with complementary layers. The track features distorted and glitching effects counteracted by a sultry guitar part, soaring over a backdrop of glassy percussion and anchored by a subdued but powerful bass line.
